Am I eligible?

You can apply for the Sarah Davies Empowering Women Scholarship if you are:

  • Female
  • Aged between 18 and 25 years old
  • Residing in a Kids Under Cover Studio or the main house where the studio is located
  • Enrolled in a tertiary course in 2023 in a field of Health, Education or Community Services. For example, early childhood, primary or secondary teaching, nursing, mental health, youth work, age support, disability work, dental assistant. If you are unsure if your course is eligible, please email scholarship@kuc.org.au
  • Residing in a household where previous scholarship funds have been appropriately acquitted
  • Not a previous recipient of the Ken & Lenka Morgan, or Sarah Davies Empowering Women Scholarship.

Selection Criteria

Applications are reviewed according to the following selection criteria areas:

  • Future Ambition: The scholarship recipient should have educational, employment and/or personal aspirations. They should also be able to identify the way they could reach their goals.
  • Support of their community: The scholarship recipient should be able to describe how any why the want to support their community.
  • Impact of the scholarship: How the scholarship will support the recipient to reach their goals.

How can I use the scholarship?

As a financial reward, the scholarship can cover any personal or educational costs incurred during 2023 that the recipient decides. Examples may include; assisting in the purchase of a vehicle, supplementing income/expenses while you are training, covering your personal bills and food, paying for course fees).

What am I not allowed to use the scholarship for?

The scholarships may be used to purchase any personal or educational resources that will support you to reach your goals.

How many Sarah Davies Empowering Women Scholarships are on offer?

There is one scholarship available per year.

I have never received a Kids Under Cover Scholarship previously. Can I apply for the Sarah Davies Empowering Women Scholarship?

Yes, you can apply for the Sarah Davies Empowering Women Scholarship even if you haven't received a Kids Under Cover Scholarship previously.

If I apply and my application is not successful, can I apply for this scholarship again in future years?

Yes, as long as you still meet the eligibility criteria, you can submit an application for the Sarah Davies Empowering Women Scholarship each year.

I used to live in a Kids Under Cover Studio, but no longer do. Can I still apply for the scholarship?

Only young people who are currently living in a Kids Under Cover Studio, or young people who are currently living in the main house where the studio is located, are able to apply. However, exceptions may be made if the young person is residing elsewhere temporarily as a direct result of their study / training course (i.e. living in student accommodation).

I don’t live in a Kids Under Cover Studio, am I eligible for a Kids Under Cover Scholarship?

Yes. If you live in the main house where a Kids Under Cover Studio is located.

Can I apply for a Kids Under Cover Scholarship next year if I receive the Sarah Davies Empowering Women Scholarship?

Yes, you are still eligible for a Kids Under Cover Scholarship the year after receiving the Sarah Davies Empowering Women Scholarship.
