Kids Under Cover supports vulnerable young people at risk of homelessness by building studios
There are many ways to get involved and help at-risk young people and their families.
Grants and gifts from philanthropic partners such as Trusts and Foundations are essential to our ability to support young people at risk of homelessness.
Our philanthropic partners are recognised at Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze and Supporting levels, and each partnership is underpinned by personal stories that go to the heart of our work, such as the one below.
The origins of Collier Charitable Fund stretch back to the 1950’s, when three Melbourne sisters, Alice, Edith and Annette Collier, daughters of a prominent grazier and contractor, created a means whereby their lifelong practice of generous support of charities and of the disadvantaged would be continued indefinitely after their death.
In the 60 or so years since the Fund’s establishment, over $87 million has been distributed for these purposes. Kids Under Cover has been one of the fortunate recipients of the Collier Charitable Fund’s support. The Fund is a Silver Partner of Kids Under Cover.
Commencing in 2004, the fund’s track record of youth homelessness prevention with Kids Under Cover has been significant, co-funding 12 studios across the state. As a direct result of this generosity, 16 young people have been diverted from homelessness, and they and their siblings have also been able to apply for scholarships.
With the provision of a ground-breaking Flagship Grant in December 2017, Gandel Philanthropy became a platinum supporter of Kids Under Cover. The grant supported the construction of numerous studios in 2018 and was further boosted by another grant in 2019. Gandel Philanthropy has been a strong advocate for young people experiencing homelessness and these recent contributions build on their ongoing generous support dating back many years, all the way to 2006.
Our Undercover Angel award recipient in 2014, the Portland House Foundation was justly recognised for its wonderful,long-term support of Kids Under Cover, which extends back to 2002.
The Reinehr Family Foundation is a new partner of Kids Under Cover, generously supporting both our Studio and Scholarship Programs.
The Shine On Foundation first supported Kids Under Cover in 2016, and in addition to funding scholarships, will build its fourth studio in 2017.
