Kids Under Cover is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to preventing youth homelessness.
We offer young people the unique combination of supported housing options with scholarships
Kids Under Cover supports vulnerable young people at risk of homelessness by building studios
There are many ways to get involved and help at-risk young people and their families.
If you have not yet confirmed your enrolment in education for next year, but you are interested in further study, this scholarship could be right for you!
Kids Under Cover is proud to offer scholarships through our partnership with Open Universities Australia to young people living with a Kids Under Cover studio.
Students who apply and are accepted into one of the two programs, will automatically receive a Kids Under Cover Scholarship as well.
For students who aren’t quite ready to tackle university head on. OUA’s series of subjects prepare students to learn “how to be a uni student”. Topics cover: study skills; academic skills; conceptual understandings; persistence; self-management and commitment.
The scholarship will cover the tuition and textbook costs, provided the recipient shows academic progress and builds their confidence and capability to complete a university degree.
OUA can then help the recipient find a degree to suit their career aspirations and assist them with accessing a government loan to support their ongoing study plans.
In the Pathway program, the OUA scholarship will cover the tuition and textbook costs for one to four entry level university subjects. These subjects are credit-bearing and can go towards the completion of a degree if that is what the recipient hopes to do. OUA can then help the recipient find a Commonwealth Supported Place in a degree and University (from the OUA University partners) of their choosing, where the student can access a government loan to support their ongoing study plans.
Scholarships will be awarded to applicants based on need, factors influencing their education, educational outcomes and the strength of their student statement as a part of their application.
To apply for the Open Universities Australia scholarship, applicants will need to fill out the Open Universities Australia Scholarship Application Form.
Once completed please send your form to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line ‘OUA Scholarship Application’.
Applications Close – 6 December 2019
Applicants will be advised of the status of their application by the 16th of May, 2020.
