Kids Under Cover supports vulnerable young people at risk of homelessness by building studios
There are many ways to get involved and help at-risk young people and their families.
As a young person growing up in a small regional town, in a single-parent welfare-dependent household, I know all too well how poverty and disadvantage feel. I am so proud to be part of the solution that prevents young people from experiencing the suffocation of overcrowding, the lack of privacy from sleeping on the loungeroom floor, and the choice between chaos at home or surviving on the streets.
‘Knowing first-hand the impact that a Kids Under Cover Scholarship would have had for me and my family, it was a no-brainer for me to join as a regular donor and I haven’t looked back.’
I am proud to be part of the solution that keeps those same young people connected to education and training.
Regular donations are extremely important to Kids Under Cover and help make a big difference to at-risk young people. By choosing to give a regular donation, you too can help Kids Under Cover make long-term improvements for young people and their families.
A regular gift allows Kids Under Cover to plan because they know, day-in-day-out, that they will have a steady income stream that they can rely upon.
For me, poverty was scrunching my toes up in my school shoes because I didn’t want to be a burden by asking for new ones. It was hiding notes from school about excursions because I didn’t want to make mum sad that she couldn’t afford the fees. It was being the only kid wearing the wrong thing on school photo day. The exclusion I felt because of my family’s financial situation haunted me through Primary and Secondary School. Knowing first-hand the impact that a Kids Under Cover Scholarship would have had for me and my family, it was a no-brainer for me to join as a regular donor and I haven’t looked back. It was easy to sign-up online; the transactions happen automatically, and my donations are all tax-deductible!
You have the power to make a lasting difference in the lives of young people by supporting their participation with education.
Since I became a regular donor, I have been kept informed of the impact that my regular donations are having. I feel like I am part of stories like Hannah* (23) who is now in her third year of university studying to be a Social Worker. Hannah’s future hasn’t always looked so bright, but with the loving support of her foster family, a Kids Under Cover Studio, and several Kids Under Cover Scholarships, Hannah and her family are thriving.
Knowing that my regular donations make these kinds of outcomes possible is an extraordinary feeling.
Regular donors come from all walks of life with their own reasons to give, but I’m sure you’d agree, there are no regrets in supporting young people to thrive.
You have the power to make a lasting difference in the lives of young people.
