On the 16th July 2009, Minister Karen Struthers, Minister for Community Services, Housing & Minister for Women announced funding by the Queensland Government of $605,000 plus granting ownership of six self contained units to Kids Under Cover in Queensland. 

On Census night in 2006, more than 26,000 Queenslanders were homeless.  Ms Struthers quoted, "Kids Under Cover helps meet the needs of young people who are at risk of becoming homeless. It's simple, but effective."  The Government funding will allow for ten (10) KUC studios to be installed across Queensland, the four initial locations to be Toowoomba, Townsville, Inala and Rockhampton.  The self contained units will be installed in the Greater Brisbane area.
