On July 1, 2008 it was announced that Kids Under Cover are the winners of the prestigious Victoria Day Award for Outstanding Community and Public Service by a Victorian Organisation for 2008.
Victoria Day 2008 marks the 157th anniversary of the official separationof Victoria from New South Wales. This momentous occasion was re-enacted outside the Melbourne Town Hall, giving award winners, dignatories and passers by a unique experience of Governor La Trobe's Proclamation of Separation and a traditional flag-raising ceremony to mark the occasion.
The other awards announced were Victorian of the Year (Bert Newton), Younger Victorian of the Year (Daniel Adams) and Victorian Corporate Citizen of the Year (RACV).
Victoria Day Council Chairman Mr Norman Kennedy was delighted with the selection of the award recipients, stating, "I warmly congratulate all recipients of the Victoria Day Council Awards on behalf of the Victoria Day Council. Victoria Day is an important occasion for us as a community to reflect on our unique history and heritage. It is also an excellent opportunity for us to look to those community members who have made outstanding contributions to their fellow community members and celebrate their achievements."
Kids Under Cover Founding Patron, Ken Morgan, collected the award on behalf of Kids Under Cover at the ceremony held on Tuesday July 1 2008.
