Kids Under Cover in partnership with hockingstuart is awarded a 2012 National Homelessness Service Award

Canberra, 22 March 2012: Kids Under Cover in partnership with Victorian real estate network hockingstuart, was today given national recognition for its partnership in the work preventing youth homelessness at the National Homelessness Services Achievement awards.

Both organisations were presented with the Outstanding business or philanthropic commitment to addressing homelessness’ award by Minister for Housing and Homelessness Brendan O’Connor.

In Canberra at Parliament House, Kids Under Cover CEO, Jo Swift said this partnership with hockingstuart is invaluable.

“Our goal is to prevent youth homelessness, keep families together, keep young people engaged in education and with their community. hockingstuart’s support over the past three years has been instrumental in our ability to continue our work in the community.

“While this has received national recognition, the true value of hockingstuart’s support to us and to the community we support is impossible to price.

“You can’t put a price tag on helping a young person get their life back on track, completing an education and staying connected to their family and their community.

“Kids Under Cover would like to congratulate hockingstuart for their exemplary commitment to the fight against youth homelessness,” Ms Swift said.

The inaugural awards celebrate the efforts of organisations and businesses nationwide in improving the lives of those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness by providing services and support.

hockingstuart chief executive Nigel O’Neil said it was important for the group to align its philanthropic commitment to an issue that made sense for the business.

“Assisting local communities build, develop and sustain their areas was a natural fit and helping young people stay with their family at home was really something that resonated with us.

“We’ve been supporting Kids Under Cover for three years, with a portion of every one of our sales donated to them,” said O’Neil.

Since the beginning of this partnership, Kids Under Cover has had the support of hockingstuart through consistent promotion in its marketing and advertising initiatives, including hockingstuart’s Red Magazine, its property boards and email communications to its database of approximately 100,000 members and website.

In addition, hockingstuart is a big supporter of three Kids Under Cover major annual events including the Umbrella Ball, Cubby House Challenge and the Donate Your Car program.
