In March 2004 we launched the Kids Under Cover Scholarship Program in Victoria. This program is used to financially assist young people who have the passion and the motivation to go on to higher education but do not have the resources. Without the restraints of educational fees and associated costs, the students will be free to focus on achieving great personal results.

 

The Kids Under Cover Scholarship Program:

  • Identifies young people in Kids Under Cover care who have the ability and the passion to gain a VCE, TAFE or tertiary qualification.
  • Funds their placement in the appropriate educational institution as well as funding the books and equipment required to undertake the course.
  • Introduces the young person into a one on one mentor program

 

Support and Mentoring

All young people provided with a Kids Under Cover scholarship will also have the opportunity to meet with a mentor to guide them along their educational journey. The mentor program will be managed by the experienced mentor organisation, Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Donations can be made to the Scholarship Program enabling Kids Under Cover to provide even more young people with the opportunity to go on to higher education. Scholarship Program - FAQ's

Who is eligible?

Young people who have resided in or who are currently residing in Kids Under Cover accommodation and who require financial assistance to study are encouraged to apply for a scholarship.

We are pleased to be able to extend our application criteria to also include siblings of young people eligible for our scholarship program.

Where does the money go?

Scholarships will be provided to cover appropriate accredited education costs, including course fees for either VCE, TAFE or undergraduate studies, incidental study costs (text books and/or equipment) or living expenses for the duration of their course. Where the student enrolls in a course covered by HECS/HELP, Kids Under Cover will not pay course fees. We will however provide funding for incidental study costs. The terms and conditions of the scholarships are clearly stated at the end of the application form and we urge prospective recipients to read them before applying.

Currently, the Scholarship Program is not available in Queensland.
