Kids Under Cover House Program (Victoria)

 

Kids Under Cover has 13 houses located in metropolitan and regional Victoria.Houses have between two and five bedrooms and the semi-independent units have two or three bedrooms. Nine CSO members manage the placement of young people in the homes and adopt the most appropriate care model for the type of support program offered at each residence.

While living in a Kids Under Cover House young people can develop independent living skills needed for the transition to public or private rental. In some cases, young people return to their family home after issues are resolved.

House Occupant Profile

  • Fifty-nine young people living in a Kids Under Cover House or Unit.
  • Residents ranged in age from newborn to 25 years.
  • Thirty-five residents successfully resolved their case management issues and moved to independent living.
  • Three houses accommodated young mothers who needed high-level care to help them learn parenting and independent living skills.
  • The majority of properties accommodated both males and females.
  • More than 50% of residents were Child Protection clients.
